We had a bunch of new volunteers Saturday as a result of the talk TwoTone gave on Monday with Indivisble! Thank you all so much! A light in the Night volunteers are just plain awesome! We got 99% of everything done and loaded a truck for street outreach! Thank you to Myrnamae's Meals' Michael Carpenter for your donations of over a dozen blankets and sleeping bags! Support for A Light in the Night comes in many forms. This #GivingTuesday, a local artist gave us this original piece to sell and raise money for our efforts. Thanks to everyone who dropped off tents and blankets in the last few days! We got them all delivered to the streets, and are waiting for the next batch of donations to arrive. We are going out daily with whatever is on hand because it is so cold. Please help where you can! Amazon wishlist and donation apps can be found on the Donate page of our website (link in bio). Here's the story this man gave me permission to tell because he was so grateful to everyone who brought tents and blankets and sleeping bags after I posted the Urgent Message the other day. When you donate to A Light in the Night Community Outreach, your donations go into my van and the cars of volunteers and we take them directly to those in need, those trying to survive on the streets of Abq. Our website is back up! New link in our bio. Thank you Paula Jackson for picking up, washing, pre-sorting, and cleaning all of the clothing donations, reusable water bottles, and yoga mats that you bring every several months from the yoga studios! You go above and beyond—that is incredible and we are grateful to you for all of your hard work! Thank you Ella's for distributing clothing! We got a huge donation of 15 tents, 30 sleeping bags, and ground pads! Thank you Tim Tourville and Coldwell Banker for the 40 sleeping bags! You're helping us save lives! I don't always post during or right after an event because I need to process the feelings that are stirred up when so many people have come together and given their time and their energy and their food and their money and their venue...in order for these events to come together. It's been two years since one of our happiest moments. It was one of those days we absolutely LIVE for! A man who is a longtime client of ours (and often volunteers with us, too) just moved into housing after 4 years on the streets. 🤩 What an amazing SORT! We had 20 volunteers! Including some of the cutest little ones. Thank you everyone so much! We won Best Humanitarian Group for the third year in a row! @abqthemag Thank you to everyone who recognizes the work we do, and to everyone who supports us through donations, volunteering, and referrals. Visit our website (link in bio) for ways to donate and get involved. There will be live jazz by Hilda Kirchner and the 2nd act at our art show next Saturday. Please join us! Just one week to go until our benefit art show! Decorate your home or office, or get some holiday shopping done. Artists are donating a portion of their proceeds to A Light in the Night. Art, live music, artists, shopping, and helping our unsheltered neighbors! Last year Albuquerque mayor Tim Keller @mayorkeller suited up with us for an incognito give, hearing directly from those we serve on the streets. We'd love more public officials to join us in helping others—we have many ways to get involved. Welcome to our new account. Our old one got hijacked, and we were not able to recover it. Thank you for supporting us!
